Jacob Farmer is a musician based in the Nashville/Middle Tennessee area. As a solo performer and chamber musician, Jacob performs in a variety of settings including solo recitals, weddings, church services, and chamber performances.
During his collegiate career, Jacob has participated in Middle Tennessee State University’s Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Band of Blue, Symphony Orchestra, Concert Chorale, Flute Choir, and various chamber groups. He has recently been selected as a student of the 2017-2018 Trevor Wye Studio in England, a winner of the 2017 Mid-South Flute Society College Masterclass Competition, South Carolina Flute Society’s Masterclass Competition, and Southern Flute Festival Masterclass Competition. Jacob has also been selected to play in masterclasses for Robert Dick, Jill Felber, Marianne Gedigian, Göran Marcusson, George Pope, Amy Porter, and Stephen Preston. Jacob is the former piccoloist for the Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra.
Jacob graduated with a degree in Instrumental Performance and Music Industry at Middle Tennessee State University. He previously studied with Ruth Ann McClain and Dr. Deanna Little. As an active performer, Jacob is a member of the Murfreesboro Community Flute Choir, a woodwind quintet, and is part of a flute, violin, and piano trio. He is also an alumnus of Phi Mu Alpha Fraternity, a past Senator on the MTSU School of Music Student Advisory Council, and an alumnus of the music honor society Pi Kappa Lambda.
